WORKSHOPS

  • Psychosocial support training for Paraprofessionals:

    Workshops at Baramulla and Khupwara were conducted for Paraprofessionals in March 2007 by Snehi, where our teams of counsellors were sent to help adults, women, children and adolescents in terrorist stricken, terror affected and sensitive areas. Participants attended training sessions in counselling skills.

  • Human Resource and Programme Development at Help Age India

  • In the year 2007, Snehi undertook an assignment to assist Help Age India in setting up a dedicated helpline for geriatric people. Snehi undertook the entire responsibility of planning and implementing the helpline programme:-

    1. Selection of volunteers;
    2. Training on mental health care and counselling issues;
    3. Supervision of their work and help in providing references for referral services.

  • Workshops for Mothers of Bal Bhawan:

    Training workshops have been conducted for caregivers (Mothers) of Bal Bhawan to help them identify children with mental health issues and also to ensure effective communication among the caregivers themselves.

  • Workshop on 'Counselling and Mental Health Care' for the staff of Bal Sahyog

    A two day workshop was conducted by Snehi in March 2007 for the caretakers and social workers of Bal Sahyog. In this workshop, several discussions were conducted on ‘Social Notions and Attitude in our society towards mental illnesses”. Around 20 people attended the workshop.

SEMINARS

International Workshops series:

  • Ist International Mental Health Workshop on ‘Working with Disadvantaged and Traumatized Children’:

    A one day workshop at India International Centre in New Delhi was conducted in January 2006 for various people and professionals working with disadvantaged, traumatised children and children who have been victims of sexual abuse.  A total of 75 delegates including various counsellors, teachers and students from various organisations and schools participated in the event.

  • IInd International Mental Health workshop on 'Families and the Well-Being of Children':

    A One-day intensive workshop on ‘Families and the Well-Being of Children’ was organised at YMCA – Conference Room, New Delhi, India by Institute of Child and Adolescents Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences (ICAMBS) and Snehi.

  • This was the 2nd event in the Mental Health Workshop series which was initiated in the February 2007 to increase awareness among professionals and non-professionals as well as to educate them on issues related to child and adolescent mental health. 

  • India Social Forum:

    In November 2006, Snehi and ICAMBS initiated seminars and conferences at the Indian Social Forum in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Grounds, New Delhi. Topics discussed were Juvenile Delinquency, Capacity Building and Child & Adolescent Mental Health issues.
